About Me
Background
I grew up in San Francisco, where community and diversity shaped how I saw the world. Being Jewish taught me to show up for others, ask questions, and stay connected to something bigger than myself. Early on, I was drawn to understanding people and the systems around us.
In high school, that turned into action. I served as class president for four years, worked with the superintendent and trustees, and pushed for a more equitable school district. It was my goal to uplift the voices of my marginalized peers.
When I got to Skidmore and found sociology, everything clicked. It gave language to what I’d always felt: that relationships matter, that identity and history shape us, and that justice is tied to the everyday structures we live in. That blend of where I come from, what I value, and the work I’ve done is what brought me here and will continue to guide me.
What I’ve Learned
One of the biggest things I’ve learned is that sometimes, listening is more important than talking. I’ve always loved to talk; it’s how I connect with people. But I’ve learned how powerful it can be to take a step back and listen. Not only does this give space for others to be heard, seen, and supported, but it also allows me to learn from people around me who have different knowledge sets than mine.
Along with that, sociology has also taught me that I don’t know everything and I never will. Talking less and listening more showed me how much there is to learn from others, from place, and from experiences I haven’t lived. That openness has become a grounding part of who I am: staying curious, staying teachable, and letting learning come from everywhere.
I’ve also come to realize that connection is powerful. The relationships we build with different people, communities, and places shape how we grow and how we show up. When those connections are rooted in care, curiosity, and respect, they can create real, meaningful change.
Moving Forward
Looking ahead, I want to keep doing work that centers people, care, and connection. I’m excited to be in roles where I can build relationships, support others, and help create spaces where everyone feels valued. I’m drawn to environments where showing up with intention truly matters.
I also want to keep learning. Every experience, old and new, has shaped the way I understand the world, and I don’t ever want to lose that curiosity. Moving forward, I’m committed to paying attention to the world around me and to use that awareness to make whatever space I’m in more thoughtful, equitable, and connected.
